In today’s society, it is well-known that Hollywood is strongly connected to politics, especially, the political left. Many celebrities have publicly endorsed Democratic politicians, from Jay-Z and Beyonce endorsing Hilliary Clinton during her 2016 Presidential campaign, to actors George Clooney and Robert DeNiro being some of the leading faces of the Biden campaign today. However, a former actress from the hit series, The Sopranos, has recently stated that many Hollywood celebrities are secretly Trump supporters behind closed doors, but choose the Democratic side to avoid scrutiny.
In a recent interview with Fox News Jesse Watters this past Monday, Emmy-winning actress Drea de Matteo believes there are many Donald Trump supporters in Hollywood who are “afraid” to support the Republican Presidential candidate, as well as speak out against the current Biden administration. Matteo is best known for her role as Adrianna in the crime drama The Sopranos. Matteo, who has previously spoken out against the Biden administration, described herself as an “outcast” in her industry.
Not only did Matteo state that she believes there are many secret Trump supporters in Hollywood, but many Robert F. Kennedy Jr. supporters as well. Matteo further stated in the interview that she was disgusted by the likes of Rober DeNiro, who Matteo stated is a fellow Italian, over his recent public sander of Trump outside the Manhattan courthouse where the former President was recently convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business documents. Following DeNiro’s public display, Matteo questioned whether or not DeNiro and other actors were paid to publicly endorse Biden. Matteo’s suspicions arose after the interview host played footage of a star-studded campaign fundraiser for the Biden campaign in Los Angeles.
Matteo has publicly spoken out about the topic of cancel culture in the past and even revealed that she only voted for Biden in 2020 out of sympathy for migrant conditions in America, but quickly changed her mind following the recent border crisis.
