Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis attacked Georgian GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene at a recent visit to a black church in Atlanta. Willis described the controversial lawmaker as a person with a spirit full of hate and said allegations that she is romantically involved with a fellow attorney were fueled by racism.
Congresswoman Taylor Greene filed a formal complaint of misconduct against Willis when it emerged in a court filing that the attorney had an affair with Nathan Wade, a lawyer who was paid $600,000 as a special prosecutor on the case against Donald Trump. Mr. Trump said she was “totally compromised” and called for the case against him to be dropped. The former President faces charges in Georgia, including racketeering, related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election results in the Peach State.
In her speech in the Atlanta church, Willis did not confirm or deny the affair allegations but claimed they were motivated by hate and resentment that a black woman from a poor background should be elevated to the office of District Attorney.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have opened an investigation into the affair rumors surrounding Ms. Willis, and the Judiciary Committee recently wrote to Nathan Wade requesting documents related to his work on the Trump indictment. The letter notes that taxpayer money was used to hire Wade on $250 per hour, and he was hired despite having no previous experience with a felony case.
Furthermore, it also emerged in January that Nathan Wade spent hours in the White House before the decision to prosecute Trump was made. The meetings will likely increase speculation that the White House is connected to the Trump prosecutions despite its repeated denials. The Daily Mail uncovered evidence that Wade’s invoices to the DA’s office in Fulton County included payment for sixteen hours of consultation with White House lawyers. Mr. Wade added $4000 to his bill for these meetings.
