Ever since Mie Sofia Elers started dating the Danish royal, Count Felix of Montpezat, she has been the target of vicious internet abuse. Last year, Queen Margrethe deprived Felix, the younger son of Prince Joachim, of his princely title. Since his older brother, Count Nikolai, is seeing Benedikte Thoustrup, he is no longer referred to as Denmark’s “most eligible” bachelor.
The Danish newspaper BT and the police have both received reports of the harassment from Mie Sofia.
According to her, she began getting hate comments on her social media accounts around a year ago, but she ignored them until they became worse. Imposters posing as her have altered her images using artificial intelligence or Photoshop, adding devil horns to her head, smoking, and depicting her with men other than Felix. She went to the police and Instagram about it last month, but the social media company hasn’t done anything, according to her.
Born to parents from Chile and Denmark, Mie Sofia spent her formative years in Copenhagen’s Film and Theatre School before relocating to Madrid. Laced Silk and Strollers are among her film and television credits. Copenhagen Business School is Felix’s current educational institution for international shipping and trade.
Prince Joachim asserted that his mother’s choice had ‘harmed’ his children when Queen Margrethe declared in 2022 that Joachim’s four children would forfeit their titles. Not only that, but Prince Joachim confessed that he was only given five days’ warning before the shocking revelation and that “communication was missing” within the Royal Family leading up to it.
Joachim and Marie, his second wife, have also admitted the “complicated” nature of their connection with Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. According to Alexandra, who was married to Prince Joachim until she divorced him, the decision was a “bolt out of the blue,” and her sons Nikolai and Felix were “ostracised” by the institution.
The Royal Household issued a statement expressing their long-awaited decision and their hope that the Queen’s desire to secure the Royal Household for the future will be honored.
