Gisele Bündchen’s Mom Loses Cancer Battle

Brazilian news outlets have reported that Gisele Bündchen’s mother has passed away after a courageous fight with cancer. Bündchen has not yet spoken publicly about her mother’s passing.

On Sunday, Vânia Nonnenmacher, 75, died in Porto Alegre’s Hospital Moinhos de Vento. A Brazilian news agency, GZH, broke the news of her passing.

She was a Brazilian citizen of German ancestry.

Gisele, Patrícia, Rafaela, Raquel, Graziela, and Gabriela are the six daughters that the 75-year-old had with university professor Valdir Bündchen.

Vânia, a retired banker, was a former Banco do Brasil Nonnenmacher employee.

Bündchen appeared on the cover of Vogue’s Brazil edition in 2018 alongside Vânia.

On Monday morning, a wake will be held in Porto Alegre’s Ecumenical Chapel of the Metropolitan Crematorium. Following, there will be a memorial service.

To celebrate her 73rd birthday in July 2022, she shared a picture album with photos of her and her mother. The model expressed her eternal gratitude for her mom. She previously called her mother the “core” of their big family and spoke highly of her resilience, loyalty, and elegance.

In addition to admiring her parenting approach, she aspired to emulate it when caring for her two children, saying she can only hope to be the rock she has been and will continue to be for her children. She confided in People in September 2023 about the challenges of caring for her aging and sick parents.

Bündchen and Tom Brady are parents to two children, Vivia (11) and Benjamin (14). Brady has a son, Jac (16), from a previous marriage.

Bündchen revealed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she and her ex-husband sometimes find themselves at odds due to their differing parenting styles, saying there are times when she encounters resistance, mainly because Tom and she reside in separate homes.
