Kamala Harris Claims Trump Will Not be “Burdened by Truth” During Debate

Another presidential debate is about to get underway, and both candidates’ teams are already calling each other names.

The event is the first of its kind since President Joe Biden dropped out of his re-election campaign this summer, endorsing the since nominated Vice President Kamala Harris. The Democrats replaced their presumptive nominee after the sitting president fumbled through a disastrous debate with his GOP rival and predecessor Donald Trump.

While the incident left a bad taste in the mouths of American voters, the country is gearing up again for a potential rerun, as Harris has notoriously evaded formal media appearances since she accepted the nomination last month. And now she is predicting that her opponent is “going to lie” come Tuesday night when they take the debate stage.

Harris said during a rare radio show appearance on Monday September 9 that “how low” Trump “will go” in the debate has “no floor.” She added that people needed to “be prepared” for him to show that he is “not burdened by telling the truth.”

The Democrat continued, saying her opponent will take things from the “playbook” he used to personally slight Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the debate stage in past elections. And although Harris has forewarned viewers of the so-called “untruths” she expects from Trump, she will not be able to call him out during the event, as the candidates have agreed to have muted microphones when they are not talking.

Other rules established for the debate, which will be hosted on Tuesday September 10 by ABC News, include a time limit of 90 minutes spread between two commercial breaks. There will only be two moderators, the sole individuals allowed to ask questions.

Additionally, the candidates will not be allowed to have prepared notes on stage or present opening statements, although each will be given two minutes for a closing statement. There will not be an audience in the studio.

In response to Harris’ accusations about Trump’s lack of integrity, the former president’s campaign press secretary rebutted the assumptions. Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that Harris, in fact, will be the “only person lying” come Tuesday’s debate. She also described the vice president as a “far-left dangerous liberal.”
