World-famous rapper and fashion designer Kanye West has recently revealed shocking information to his fans. The 47-year-old artist, who now goes by just Ye, recently revealed to fans that he was considering retirement from the music business. West, whose debut album was released in 2004, has seen a 20-year career span of many hit records, and multiple awards, including several Grammys, as well as a fashion line that has changed modern fashion indefinitely. The shocking news came to fans via an Instagram story from fellow rapper Rich The Kid, in which Rich shared a text message between him and West.
In the said text message, West stated that he was “retiring from professional music” followed by the Flashing Lights rapper stating that it was because he was not sure “what else to do”. In response, Rich The Kid attempted to persuade West not to leave the music business, in which West is extremely admired. Rich asked West why he felt the need to retire and followed up with another message saying that the recent music released by West was the “biggest stamp” in the culture of music this year. Rich continued to plead with West in their exchange by suggesting West take time off instead of permanently retiring.
It has been a successful year for West and Rich, as the two both went number one on the Billboard Hot 100 following the release of the hit song Carnival, which features both artists. The song was released in February off of West’s and fellow artist Ty Dolla Sign’s collaborative project Vultures 1. The album is West’s first professional music release since his 2022 antisemitic comments which practically blackballed the Grammy-winning rapper from the music industry. Vultures 1 is one of three albums set to be released by West this year, as the rapper announced the trilogy series earlier this year. However, only the first of the series has been released officially.
