Married Nevada Couple Found Dead in Mexican Hotel Room

One American family is mourning the death of their parents who were recently found dead in a hotel room in Mexico, and their children are worried they will never know who killed their parents or why.

Lindsay and Nick Jordan, from Nevada, were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas to celebrate Lindsay turning 46-years-old; they traveled to the resort area along with colleagues from their jobs. The couple was found dead in their hotel room on July 14. The Jordans had five children ranging in ages from 12 years old to 21. Haley Jordan is 19, Sammy is a minor whose age has not been disclosed, and Devin Simms is 21.

Though Mexican police say Nick and Lindsay Jordan died from drugs, son Devin Simms says the information does not add up. He has been poring over every document related to his parents’ case, a project that involved translating from Spanish into English. Simms claims “every document” he’s found has some sort of inconsistency and discrepancy, but he does not know what to do about it.

The Mexican police have jurisdiction, of course, and they have already ruled that the deaths were not suspicious. This is preventing the surviving adult children from having independent autopsies performed on their parents by U.S. medical pathologists.

Devin Simms told Nevada media that he is becoming resigned to the possibility that “we will never know.” He simply does not believe that his parents died from taking recreational drugs, saying his father did not even drink alcohol. In addition, his parents were vacationing with work colleagues, making it even less likely they would risk their professional reputations by engaging in illicit drug activity.

It was supposed to be a delightful birthday getaway, and the surviving children said their parents sent them photographs and notes for the first two days of their Mexican vacation. Daughter Haley Jordan said her parents were “just happy, and happy to be on this trip.”

The family was well-known locally for participating in the amateur wrestling community, and Nevada Elite Wrestling said the couple’s death was a “tremendous loss to our wrestling family.”

Lindsay Jordan’s coworkers have set up an online fundraiser to help the three surviving children. As of July 28, it had collected more than $87,000.
