The parents of the OnlyFans model charged in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend in 2022 were arrested last week in Austin, Texas, CBS News reported.
According to records obtained by CBS News, Kim and Deborah Clenney, the parents of Courtney Clenney, were booked at the Travis County Sheriff’s Office on felony charges and were held without bond pending transfer to Miami-Dade County.
Attorneys representing the Clenneys said in a statement that the arrests “could be an example of prosecutorial overreach and misconduct.” The attorneys alleged that the Clenneys were being “targeted” through “trumped-up charges” aimed at discrediting them in the press and making “their lives miserable.”
The Clenneys were transferred to Florida and booked at the the Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County on Tuesday, February 6 on charges related to tampering with the laptop belonging to the victim, Christian Obumseli.
Both Kim and Deborah Clenney are charged with unauthorized access to a computer. According to prosecutors, the Clenneys logged into Obumseli’s computer despite not having permission to do so.
The Clenneys both posted bond Tuesday evening and were released.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Clenneys’ attorneys reiterated that the charges against the couple were “entirely without merit” and an “overreach by law enforcement.” The attorneys alleged that the Clenneys were “being targeted for being witnesses in their daughter’s case” and law enforcement arrested them in “an attempt to bully them and scare them” into not supporting their daughter.
Courtney Clenney, 27, is charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Obumseli at their apartment in Miami-Dade in April 2022. Her attorneys argued that she stabbed Obumseli in self-defense during a domestic dispute.
New video footage released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office last month shows Clenney hitting Obumseli multiple times while the couple was on a trip to Aspen.
An attorney for the Obumseli family said Courtney’s behavior in the newly released video showed a disturbing pattern.
