During an unexpected, late-night appearance on a comedy talk show, former president Donald Trump shared his reaction to celebrities who have publicly criticized him.
The GOP nominee joined “Gutfeld” on Wednesday September 18, where host Greg Gutfeld led a portion of his show that he called “celebs can’t quit Donald Trump.” The comedic commentator shared video clips of celebrities who were on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” taking an opportunity to insult Trump.
Hollywood actor George Clooney, for example, said on the show that he felt “comforted” that the GOP nominee would attack Kimmel before using the “power of the government” to come against him. On the same show, Kimmel shared a social media post from Trump—dated in July 2024—which featured the politician advising that Clooney “go back to television” and “get out of politics.”
Clooney responded on September 18 edition of the show that he “will if [Trump] does.” The post from the summer followed an editorial written by the famous actor in which he requested that President Joe Biden suspend his re-election campaign after his painful debate performance against Trump in June.
Gutfeld also showed his audience a clip of radio broadcaster Howard Stern declared that he does not “hate the guy,” referring to the GOP nominee, adding that he does “hate” those “who vote for him.” The comments were made this week and included Stern’s opinion that he thinks Trump supporters are “stupid” and said he has “no respect” for them.
In response, Trump said that such disdain from celebrities shows that their fame is put into “proper perspective” when seen side by side to “somebody with more fame.” He added that he is familiar with “most of them” who share their hatred for him, adding that Stern “was great” earlier in his career, before he “went woke.”
Trump also blamed the radio’s guru’s adoption of “woke” content as the reason his popularity ratings have “gone down the tube.” But Stern and Clooney are not the only ones to publicly blast Trump. His involvement in recent rumors about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio stealing and eating pets has triggered several celebrities to rant about him online.
