Allegations Surface Against Action Star

Jean-Claude Van Damme, the Belgian martial arts icon known for films like “Bloodsport” and “Timecop,” finds himself embroiled in serious allegations connecting him to a Romanian human trafficking ring. According to reports from CNN affiliate Antena 3, Van Damme is accused of having sexual relations with five Romanian women who were allegedly trafficked. The criminal complaint, filed with Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), claims the incidents took place at an event in Cannes organized by the actor himself.

The accusations suggest the women were offered to Van Damme by a criminal organization reportedly led by Morel Bolea. This case represents just one element of a larger investigation into human trafficking in Romania that authorities have been pursuing since 2020. The investigation encompasses various trafficking offenses, including trafficking of minors, and has been active for approximately five years according to Romanian authorities.

Strong Denial From Van Damme’s Camp

Van Damme’s representative has issued an unequivocal denial of all allegations. Patrick Goavec, the actor’s agent, released a statement addressing the situation, maintaining his client’s innocence while expressing frustration over what they consider unfounded claims. The actor’s team appears determined to fight what they view as damaging and baseless accusations that threaten Van Damme’s reputation and legacy in the entertainment industry.

“The reported facts are both grotesque and non-existent. Mr. Van Damme does not wish to comment or fuel this rumor, which is as absurd as it is unfounded,” says Patrick Goavec.

Beyond denying the specific allegations, Van Damme’s team has declined to engage further with what they characterize as absurd rumors. The 63-year-old actor, who has been married five times to four different women and has three children, continues his career primarily in voice acting roles in recent years. The allegations come at a time when Van Damme has largely stepped back from the high-profile action roles that defined his earlier career.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Attorney Adrian Cuculis, representing one of the alleged victims, has taken a central role in bringing these allegations to light. According to Cuculis, the women involved were reportedly in a vulnerable state and potentially exploited. The legal proceedings are complex, involving multiple jurisdictions, as the High Court of Cassation in France must authorize criminal proceedings before suspects can be summoned to Romania to provide statements to investigators.

According to Attorney Adrian Cuculis: “Several Romanians who are currently being investigated for forming a criminal group and pimping, allegedly offered Jean-Claude Van Damme five Romanian women — photo models in Romania — for him to have sexual relations with. The person who received those benefits knew their condition.”

The case emerged after a witness to the alleged incident provided information to prosecutors, prompting the formal criminal investigation. As part of the broader crackdown on human trafficking in Romania, this case highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to combat organized crime networks operating across European borders. Authorities continue to gather evidence and statements as they pursue justice in what has become a high-profile international case involving one of action cinema’s most recognizable stars.
